How The Worst story ends (and an important question)

/ Friday, 16 March 2012 /
People said so many lovely things about this quilt, which I called The Worst, and, to my surprise, it turns out to be the quilt of mine that gets the most business on Pinterest.  When all was said and I done, I had quite reconciled myself to it, and was feeling like it wasn't so bad after all.  Here's another look at it.

I had made it for my DD's best friend at university, who had fallen hard for the quilt she had seen in my daughter's room.  You know how it is when you are always looking for an excuse to make another quilt!  So after taking the photos of it, I bundled it up and sent it off to McGill.  DD knew when I had sent it, and was keeping her eyes open for it to arrive.  Although neither DD nor I told BFF that I was sending her a quilt, she suspected something when the porter at their residence told her there was a package with my name on the return address.  She was so excited she couldn't wait until she got up to her room.  DD snapped this pic (excuse the camera phone photos) as BFF dropped her books and ripped open the package right there on the floor in the lobby.

She wasted no time wrapping herself up in it.

And here are the two of them taking their quilts down to the common room for some cozy time!

It's so nice to see pics of the quilt gone to a good home - and that is how the story of The Worst ends.  (I should call it something else now, shouldn't I?)
And now a question for you.  One of my longtime readers, whom I hadn't heard from in awhile, commented on one of my Flickr photos that she can no longer leave comments on my blog after I made some recent updates.  If you have tried to leave a comment but could not do so, would you be so kind as to drop me an email at wadewool {at] gmail [d_t} com so that I can get a sense of the magnitude of the problem? So greatly appreciated!

I'm so happy your "worst" quilt found such a great home!

Here's what I see about commenting on your blog: If you are just on the home page of your blog and scrolling through the posts there is NO way to get to the comment part (nor any mention of commenting). You have to click on the title of an individual post and then a comment box will appear.

I can see the comment form within the post as I would expect. I alway click on a post to comment anyway, didn't know you could do it another way.

if you are on the blog 'home' page, there is nowhere to click to comment, but if you click on the individual post, then you can comment :)

LOVE the pics of the girls enjoying their quilts!

After seeing these pics of your DD and her friend, I almost wish I was young again.

On occasion, when I tried to leave a comment, Ie received a message saying I don't have permission to do so.

And they (the quilts) lived happily ever after! Hope the girls do, too!

How fun to see the excitement of the package being ripped open and the quilt being immediately enjoyed!

I've just tried equilateral triangles myself for the first time and I think I'll have to do a new colour combo soon. They're great!

I had the same issue as Karin for leaving you a comment. The quilt is gorgeous. I would love to make it, and I love all the happy photos.

So glad (though not at all surprised) she loved the quilt!

Goes to show that the recipient sometimes gets to be the judge of the quilt.

Your beautiful quilt is definitely appreciated - I loved the photos of the moment of receipt.

The "leave a comment" option appears only when you've clicked and opened the specific blog post. Perhaps that is what your friend is referring to.

What a fun post!!! I've always loved this quilt and so glad your daughter's friend does too. So cute how she immediately dropped everything to open it up!

It took me a while to figure out how to leave a comment too....but now I know to click on the post to bring up the comment form.

Have you figured out the commenting thing? I had to click on the post in order to see the "post a comment" thing. Is that the issue?
