As I mentioned, I went to the Creativ Festival in Toronto on Friday. It was a big show, and it included all kinds of crafty things, from scrapbooking to bra-making, from garment sewing to beading, knitting, and quilting. There was an awful lot to see! I was looking for new and interesting things that I couldn't live without, and I was also looking for giveaway items, as I mentioned in my last post, to mark a number of exciting events. The quilt booths seemed to carry predominantly traditional fabric and lots of kits, which I wasn't really in the mood for, so I didn't load up on fabric. I did get a bunch of random FQs and a few notions, but let me show you the three things that are absolutely droolworthy, that I haven't been able to stop petting. The first is this load of gorgeous Japanese cottons. The packs are fat eighths, and the rolls are FQs. I also picked up some Echino FQs. These came from Kallisti Quilts, who had the smallest booth in the joint - it was about the size of my bathroom - but it was packed! Everyone loved the gorgeous fabrics, and the stunning sample quilts they had made up. They also carried African and Indian printed cotton, which was spectacular. It wasn't cheap, as you can imagine, but I had such a craving - I bought as much as I could load up into my arms. Go and look at their website and see what they carry - it is wonderful!
The second thing I want to show is this small collection of Marcia Derse FQs from Quilters' Palette.
You are probably familiar with Marcia Derse's fabric, but I had never heard of her. It looks hand-dyed, but it's not. I think it's spectacular, and when I went home I combed the internet to find more. I found some here, but it doesn't seem to be wildly available. And if you go to Marcia Derse's webpage and click on Art, you can see the forthcoming line, Third in Line, which is giving me pains, I want it so bad. I'll show you some closer shots to increase your envy.
Lastly, I picked up this pack of 20 FQs of Kona cotton solids in assorted cool colours. Love!
So, I'm sorry, but all of that stuff that I showed you is mine, all mine [insert maniacal chortle here]. But I was on the lookout for goodies to give away, and here's what I came up with. I was motivated largely by the comments that you all left for me on my post asking for suggestions.
1. Pack of 60 Quilt Patis 1.5 diamond templates for English paper piecing. These are the same ones I use for the diamond hand-piecing project I have on the go.
2. A wool pincushion kit. This measures 6" square. Pretty cute, I think. I was reading a blog yesterday and the writer had bought the same kit. She was starting to work on it and it looks great!
3. Two Oh Cherry Oh by Me and My Sister for Moda charm packs. These are OOP.
4. Five half-yard cuts of a range of purple Kona cotton solids. So that makes 2.5 yards - actually meters, which is 39" - of fabric in total.
I hope you like the swag! I'm going to draw four winners, one for each piece of loot. In order to have a chance, please do TWO THINGS:
(1) take a look at the quilts listed on my sidebar and I've made and tell me which one is your favourite (you can include the WIPs). Have a look around, and if you would like what you see, feel free to become a follower, but this is not required.
(2) make sure you have a way for me to contact you if you are the winner. In other words, make sure you are not a no-reply blogger.
The comments will remain open until November 5. Good luck!

I simply can't choose a favorite amongst your quilts! They are just all so lovely. That being said .... The sunny side of the street is so interesting and looks different each time I view it. I think I'll choose that one, but in my heart I love them all equally :)
I agree - it was hard to choose a fave but I'm going with Wine Gums, because it's beautiful. And because they're my favourite candy! Especially the black cherry ones. MMMMM.
Nice scores at the Festival! And thanks for the giveaway!
Wow, such beautiful quilts to choose from. I love "Love Birds" and not just because it is first on the list, it is such a beautiful use of those gorgeous fabrics.
Thanks for the great chance to win! I especially love the fabric prizes.
1. Modern Sampler
Can I just squeal at your purchases? I absolutely love the batik look-alike fabric. Someone on flikcr has a gorgeous quilt made out of this line. If I can find it, I'll send you the link.
Wow they are all fabulous. But I think I like Going to the Chapel and Red Hots the best! Thanks for entering me. I already follow :-)
It's kind of hard to pick a favorite, but I love Wine and Gum. So Wine Gums.
I love your blog!! I have only recently started following blogs...and came across yours as a friends favorite. I love them all...but I'll go with Red Hots as my favorite.
The swag is great...and how nice of you to share!
pick me, pick me!
my favorite is .... get ready ... paprika! but i also really love the blue meanies quilt and the wine gums one.
Dunes and Sunny Side of the Street are wonderful, but my absolute favorite has to be Paprika! I really wish you'd finish that one! Great giveaway - thanks for the chance at such great swag!!!
I love the Wine Gums! close runner up is the Love Birds - I ordered a panel of that fabric recently, but haven't gotten it yet. Your quilt is an inspiration!
thanks!
You know me, it's the Blue Meanies! This will always have a soft spot in my heart!
Going To The Chapel is a simple and elegant design. It is my favourite of all your quilts. The colours, the quilting, i like just everything about it!
Thank you so much for the lovely giveaway!
I am loving your new clamshell fabric~~ can't wait to see what you make with that.
as for my faves.. Wine Gums and the Geese baby quilt (loved seeing old photos of YOU as well!)
I love the Red Hots quilt. Being Canadian you can't go wrong with red and white. I am a follower. Thanks for the fabulous giveaways.
I think they are all great but Wine Gums is my favorite! I am already a follower. I love the fabric you brought home! Gorgeous!
I LOVE dunes. What a wonderful quilt...well they are all fun but I have to vote for dunes! It is a fun give away you are having. Thanks.
I liked your starry log cabin. When I looked at it I just saw piles of leaves...make the red stars orangey yellows and it really would look like someone raked up leaves...it's pretty. I like the muted colors of paprika too....love those rusts!
freeindeed at myfairpoint dot net
My favorite quilt from your collection is still Dunes. The muted browns and the quilting are really great. Thank you for this giveaway. You have a wonderful eye for fabric and enjoyed the photos of your finds.
Love your Goin' to the chapel quilt..the dark background really makes it special.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time in Toronto..I'll have to see when its on in the future and plan a trip to visit my mother at the same time (she lives in Hamilton)
Sounds as if you had fun at the Sewing and Needlework festival. I used to go every year with a dear friend and even took classes. She past away last year and I went with others which was fun but not the same. This year I took a break.
But your post made me with I went!
I am a follower and it is hard to choose one. I will when I have the time to go through all your quilts. I just wanted to say how generous to give away such lovely things. However I do like the fabric you kept!
Wow! You have made some beautiful quilts over the years!! My favorites are: Red Hots and Blue Meanies
So many beautiful quilts to select from - but the one that edges out the others for me is the Modern Tradition Sampler.
I have been a follower for awhile now. Thank you for having such a great giveaway!!
It's really close between Dunes and Lovebirds, but I'm going to have to go with Dunes.
There are several there that I'm going back and forth between, but I love Valley of the Dolls. Can't wait to see what you create with your new fabrics!
All of your quilts are beautiful. My favorite is Wine Gums.
I missed the Creative Sewing Festival this year - too many other commitments (mostly off-spring related) kept me from Toronto.
I'm going to have to say that Red Hots is my favourite. There's something about the red/white combination that I never get tired of.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful work!
i am soooo LiKinG the Lovebirds! i thought it would be the bargello until i came to the lovebirds :) i'm a grt fan of purple i'd have to say - liked what you did with placing the birds on the back as well! thx for your offer and generosity! yay Canada! too when i recognized your maple leafs on the sidebar & your trip to TO...
I think Blue Meanies is my favourite
Gill
I like the Love Birds. Beautiful fabric. Thanks for the lovely giveaway. I am new to your blog and have enjoyed my visit - new follower!
It's hard to choose a favourite quilt - I like how you have a good mix of modern and traditional. One of my favouites is Dunes because I love the muted neutral tones of it, yet it's very modern and urban looking.
Following you now from over at the quilt along.
And I opened every single quilt you made in your sidebar and I don't know how to chose a single favorite! I narrowed it down to four...
I guess the pink one is called a coin quilt...also blue meanies...red hots is awesome...and Wine Gums too!
So, I basically love everything! Thanks for a chance to win a great giveaway.
Oh dear, the Kona solids are so beautiful... I can understand that you don't want to part with the Marcia Derse's fabrics, and I think the solids sweeten that loss for us quite a bit!
I still have a special place for your neutral Dunes quilt, I remember it from the festival. I love the name blue meanies :) I can just hear Yellow Submarine playing in my head, but I like the calmness of the Dunes quilt. Amazing how with both the design and the name, you convey a really peaceful mood!
Cheers,
Christine
your quilts are all fabulous, these 3 are my favourite: love birds, wine gums, and valley of the dolls. beautiful colours! and thank you so much for the giveaway!
All of them are great but I really like "Goin' to the Chapel". Thanks for the giveaway!!
Happy happy birthday!! My favorite has to be the garden quilt you did for our bee! I just LOVE that one!
Enjoy your special day! Xoxo
Valley of the Dolls is totally my favorite. I love the pink and purple quilt as you go blocks too. Happy birthday!
I have two favorites. Red hot and Wine gums. I love them both equally for different reasons. The first Red hots is because it has my favorite color. And I just love all the different reds and creams in this quilt. Gorgeous!!! I love the Wine Gums because the hst's look so wonderful. I just love the colors and the pattern. Gorgeous!!! Thank you for the wonderful giveaway! You are giving amazing loot. Crossing my fingers that I win.....Hugs Ariane
My favorite of all of your beautiful quilt is your Wine Gums quilt. It is just beautiful! The picture of your daughter wrapped up in the quilt is priceless!! Thanks for having this giveaway!
Wow you are talented! How can I choose? I think I will go with #
Valley of the Dolls. I love the colors of it!
I am a follower now! Great blog!
I am kind of cheating by picking 2...I love the 'Sunny Side of the Street' quilt and also the 'Valley of the Dolls' quilt. I am planning to make a quilt for my daughter with pinks, greens, oranges and whites, so the colours in those quilts really popped out at me, and I think they are lovely!
I must say though, that the story behind 'I'll be seeing you' is the best :)
Let me try this again....
Oh, so pretty! I always liked the Wine Gum and your Blue Meanies, too. I remember your sweet finish on your Mom's quilt, too.
What was fun looking back on all of your projects was thinking "Oh, yeah, I loved this one!", and then finding my comment from long ago. Your work is so inspiring, Lesly, you are a fave of mine. I've been a follower for a while now.
OOOOOooooooooooooooooh. I loved all of your quilts but Dunes and Wine Gums were the ones that flew right into my heart.
Your fabrics are simply divine and her website is inspiring. Thanks for sharing and for the giveaway chance.
Happy Autumn.
My favourite is the Love Birds quilt. I really love how the border is pieced around the panel. and I love purple. Happy birthday!
I love Dunes. I know you had doubts about it at the time but I think it turned out fab and therefore it is my favourite although I admire all your work. Happy 50th birthday for today. Lots of Love Sandra
You make beautiful quilts! I love Miss March. Thank you for the chance!

Hi - Lovebirds is at the top of my list. Great showcase for the fabric, and I love the wonky little details in the outside border contrasting with the checkerboard inside border. Second favorite is Dunes. Wonkiness can leave me cold, especially if it's too much or too chaotic - this is a great example of wonky sucess. My third place is Valley of the Dolls. Love those colors with the white. I'm a new follower!
Love the Wine Gums and the Lovebirds! Thanks for the chance!
Lesly - Congrats on 1/2 a century and on all the goodness you bought at the Creativ Fest. I love Kallisti too.
And as I am a fellow scorpio( my birthday is tomorrow 28th !!) I feel lucky !!
My fave quilt is Dunes.
Thanks so much for the giveaway and eat lots of cake.
Brenda .g34
WOw! Great Quilts. I love the Red Hots!! You are very talented. Thanks for the giveaway. Great job!!
Your quilts are all beautiful! I couldn't pick one favorite so I picked three ~ winegums, bargello, and valley of the dolls. I look forward to seeing more of your finishes in the future!
ourbusylittlebunch(at)hotmail(dot)com
I really fell for the Dunes quilt because I'm leaning towards an open expression of creativity and this one fits the bill! Also, the binding is completely unexpected--♥ it!
p.s. I have fat quarter stacks of Marcia Derse just waiting for inspiration. the third line looks like it will coordinate beautifully with the first two! Oh dear....
My fav is Wine Gums.

My local quilt shop has several bolts of the Marcia Derse fabrics, and I bought 1/3 yard of each. There was an extremely simple quilt in "Quilts & More" magazine a few issues back that is made out of 10" squares. I thought that simple design with large blocks would let these fabrics shine. This is a huge departure from the Moda "Kansas Troubles" and romantic "3 Sisters" & "Fig Tree" fabrics I usually choose, so this is either going to be really beautiful, or look like something you would use to wrap your furniture when you move. (!) I love the way this fabric feels---to me, it seems almost like a sateen or something.
Oooooh, Valley of the Dolls for sure!!!!!!! I am in a pink mood lately though. I got some "pink" news last week so that is probably why......lol
Alison Dafoe
Those Kona cool colors always make me swoon. Nice haul!
I love Wine Gums, not sure what they are, but I love the Blog Inag quilt too! ;)
Hi Lesley, I had fun looking through your finished quilts and can say that three are my favorites. I like Dunes, Red Hots, and Valley of the Dolls...not necessarily in that order. Thanks for the great giveaway.
I love your quilt Modern Traditions Sampler. It is fantastic. Did you design the layout yourself?
What a fun giveaway you are having. I would love to be entered.

I am a follower.
I love the "Quilted and Bound" one http://www.flickr.com/photos/wadewoolley/4671352221/in/set-72157622481181130/
It's bright and cheery and so welcoming.
oh all of your quilts are beautiful but I do love your Red hots the best . your treasures are fantastic
hugs Beth
How do you choose? It's like someone asking you to choose between your children! I liked blue meanies and valley of the dolls. I really liked them all but you are making us choose!
Thanks for the giveaway!!
It was so hard to choose one. But I think I really like Goin' to the chapel but Blue Meanies and Red Hot are close behind.
It was fun to look at how your quilting has changed over time. My favorite quilt is the mod tradition sampler.
You picked out some wonderful goodies...for yourself and to share!!! You've made some amazing quilts. I really love your Wine Gums quilt as well as the Modify Tradition Sampler. Generous giveaway Lesly! Thanks.
Oh you have the most beautiful quilts. It was so hard to pick a favourite. I felt quite moved reading the story behind I'll Be Seeing You. What an amazing tribute to your mom. I love the quilt you have in your blog header, Valley of the Dolls and Blue Meanies and Love Birds were amazing too. Dammit, they are all gorgeous!!
Hello! I've just discovered your blog! I went to the Creativ Festival on Saturday, and I agree that there was a bit too much that was leaning towards traditional for me. I went with my 83 year old grandmother and her friend, and they loved all the civil war era repro prints, and considering the number of older women there I suppose the vendors had correctly identified their market. :)
I also found the booth with the Echino but didn't end up splurging, as gorgeous as it was. My grad-student non-income just wouldn't allow it. :( But you picked some really wonderful ones!
I have to say that so many of your quilts are just gorgeous, but my two favourites are "Love Birds" and "Wine Gums." I can't possibly narrow it down any further!
My favorite quilt of yours is Wine Gums. The colors are just gorgeous!
I love love love the Valley of the Dolls Quilt - lovely colors!
Thanks for the yummy chance :)
I love Valley of the Dolls. It is so bright and colorful! I also really like Eve's Quilted vest. That is so beautiful the way the arch travels through the quilt.
It's a toss-up between Love Birds and Valley of the Dolls! I'm leaning toward Love Birds, though:) Thanks for the chance to win!
I'm a bright colors gal so thought Wine Gums was my favorite until I got to Cross Nine Patch when I was blown away by your choice of colors. Love it. Love your blog too so became a follower & bookmarked it for my daily blog read. Thanks.
p.s. - I love charms.
My favorite quilt would have to be Wine Gums, followed closely by Blue Meanies, Red Hots and Paprika. As you can probably tell by my selections, scrappy quilts are my favorites. I have been reading your blog for about a year now, but don't comment much. I'm trying to get better at that. I also am turning 50 this year (on the 31st). Yikes! Turning forty didn't bother me, but this has been different, mainly in the sense that there are so many things I want to do and I'm feeling how quickly the time goes by. This is probably a good thing, I'm hoping it will help me to remember to make the most of each day. Anyway, Happy Birthday and may you be blessed with many more years.

Wow - you really cleaned up at that show. I love Marcia Derse's fabric. You don't see it around very often ... I love your Wine Gums quilt! Striking! And I love scrappy quilts. Thank you for the giveaway!

MOST FAVORITE IS 'BLUE MEANIES'!
THANK YOU SO FOR SHARING! LOVE,LINDA
jldouglas@wispwest.net
My favorite is The Dunes Quilt. I'm not much of a girlie girl and I love the colors!
Itsmelealee@gmail.com
So glad to find your blog via the Blogger's Quilt Festival. Now following! I love Dunes - gorgeous neutrals & I love the snazzy binding!
I didn't see the Paprika quilt that a few commenters have mentioned...
Also like the hand-pieced diamonds project. BTW, I saw you were asking about experience with Inklingo? My mom uses Iit & loves it. I'll direct her to your post & maybe she'll pipe up with her experience.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I had a feeling that I'd like your quilts when I saw all the fabrics you just added to your stash. I really like Love Birds and Dunes. Thanks for sharing.
It's hard to pick a favorite, but I really like the flying geese baby quilt in the bright pinks. I made a flying geese quilt and love that pattern.
I love dunes!
Thank you for the giveaway!

I really love Wine Gum - what a beauty! There are others I am crazy about, but this one just stands out for me. Thanks for the giveaway!
What wonderful fabrics! Yours, and the giveaway! :) You have made so many amazing quilts! I really like the Dunes quilt, and your recent Love Birds quilt! What beautiful quilting you do! :)
Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!
~Teresa
I'd say my favorite is Starry Log Cabin because I like anything STARS and I love the Log Cabin pattern. Found you via the Talk About Fabric forum. (Oh, but I loved your entry in the quilt festival, too, the Love Birds)
It's a toss up between Love Birds and Wine Gums. The bird print is possibly my favourite Echino print ever so I love how it's the focus of the block. As far as Wine Gums goes, it's the contrast between blocks and the variety of fabric that blows me away.
Thanks for the neato giveaway!
littlefurymaget(AT)yahoo(DOT)ca
Oh Cherry?! Oh yeah!
Well I should say I like your Red Hot quilt the best (since I am making one right now) BUT...Love Birds is so lovely. LOVE IT!
This has been hard, Lesly. I really like your colours in your earliest quilts which is maybe why Wine Gums edged out Dunes! ;>)
I have two favorites. I love Valley of the Dolls and Dunes. I just did a quilt in the same color palette as Dunes, and I absolutely love it. Thanks for the opportunity to win! I love the charm squares and that pincushion looks darling!
I like Love Birds the best, though Valley of the Dolls was close!
I really like the Blue Meanies quilt. It was really hard to choose just one.
I really love the Love Birds. Purples are my favorite and it screams those too me.
It was hard to choose a favorite quilt. They are all so pretty. I thought the quilt on your blog header was very nice but didn't know if it was in your list. Then I found it, Valley of the Dolls. I love the bright colors and the white background. So that is the one I would choose to be my favorite (wine gums was a close second).
That was way too hard. Wine gums makes me want to curl up in a comfy chair with a book ... but Valley of the Dolls is way cool. I can't pick which one I like better. Its just both!
I just love your bargello quilt, it's my favorite. Great giveaway, thanks for the chance.
The Love Birds quilt is absolutely stunning! I love that the colors are so vivid. Thanks for the giveaway :D
I guess I would go with Wine Gums...it was very hard to decide.
There was several that I loved.
tshaw6580@yahoo.com
I have a bird obsession so naturally, I <3 the "Love Birds" quilt! No, I adore it in every way!
Yeah, that's better.
I also love the beautiful eclectic "Wine Gums", such a lovely quilt!
Wow, so many choices, but I do love the bargello or "bar of Jello" as my granddaughter calls it. I love the pinks and blues. I want to be brave enough to try one, maybe some day. Thanks for the giveaway.
Love! I have to say that there Parika quilt :D I wish I'd made it! A close second is Dunes. Both are just mwah.
senjosuki at yahoo dot com
I'm loving Wine Gums, that's a funny name - I'll have to read more about it to see why. Also love Valley of the Dolls. As soon as I read the name I was thinking about the book. Great fabric haul! And thanks for the great giveaway.
I love "Love Birds" - so cute!
I'd have to go with your diamonds quilt (WIP) as my favorite - as judged by my NEED to start one for myself! I also really enjoy your choices of color and your pieced backs!
Red Hots is my favorite :)
throuthehaze at gmail dot com
I like your Sampler quilt. The Bargello one is absolutely gorgeous, too.
gevin13{at}gmail{dot}com
All of your quilts are so beautiful. I especially liked "I'll Be Seeing You" that you finished for your Mom.
I have just entered your giveaway and am now a follower of your blog :)
My favorite quilt that you have made is Goin' to the Chapel! Love the colors!
I'm a sucker for scrap quilts so Aunt Tildy's String Quilt is one of my favorites along with Red Hots. I adore that red and white quilt and would love to make one like it myself.
kslwoods at! gmail dot! com
The Love Birds are wonderful, but my vote as my fav is for the "My Mother's Quilt". One, we are penguin fanatics in our house. I love how the little guys were fuzzy cut into center stars. But secondly, I love the story behind the quilt, finishing it to give it back:)
nsue21702 at gmail dot com
My favorite is of course that Echino Love Birds quilt that I first saw on the Quilters Festival. I wish those fabrics weren't so expensive otherwise I'd probably make most of my stuff with Echino, lol!
