It's National Quilting Day plus First Day of Spring, Y'all!

/ Saturday 20 March 2010 /
I guess there's a Day for everything, but I'm very happy that today recognizes my favourite creative activity! And how great is it that it also falls on the official first day of spring? I know!

Here are a couple of pictures of a WIP that I'm playing around with today. I'm keeping it on the downlow until I decide if it is going to be something worthy of gifting. The jury is still out, but I do love the colours in this little piece.

And I am happy to report that I have finished Jennifer's New York Beauty AT LAST. In the end I didn't have the courage to go for Block #1, and stayed at lowly Block #0. I reckoned Jennifer deserved something that had at least a halfway decent chance of turning out like it was supposed to.
Jennifer's block - ISQB
Without a doubt, this NYB has been the biggest challenge to my quilting skills this year. Although, in truth, it wasn't really so hard to make the block once I got started; pushing through all the narishkeit in my head about possibly screwing it up was ridiculously time-consuming. It was a February bee block, folks, and here we are, stepping into Spring. Shameful, isn't it? But enough about my sins - what have been your biggest quilting challenges this year?

What a nice colour combo! My biggest challenge is staying on track and finishing the quilts. I am working the plan but the finishing is tricky.

Happy, happy days to be celebrating! I love Spring and I love Quilting! How fun to be able to party for both this week!

I love the colors of the sneak peek and your block is "Awesome"! I knew you had it in you!

Biggest challenge? Letting go of the idea of only working on one project at once. I mean, I can read up to 5 books at a time, to keep me happy, distracted, interested...so why not have more than one quilt project going at the same time? Guilt free?

Hope this is a great weekend for you!

My biggest challenge is making my sad little machine want to quilt! In 45 minutes of attempts this morning (including "let the machine rest" breaks), I broke a needle and had my thread break three times! I only got about four inches (horizontally) of quilting done. I'm never going to finish this nap quilt!!

Ooooh, yummy batiks. Can't wait to see what it turns out to be!

My biggest challenge ANY year is reigning in the desire to start a new project every day. I want to make everything and in my mind, I think I can, but in real life, I'd need 36 hour days. I definately struggle when it comes to disciplining myself to finishing one project before moving onto the next.

Love the mystery quilt....my colors and favorite fabric! My biggest challenge so far this year, definitely fabric choices....my fabric hangups drive me crazy, ie Paprika, need I say more? I think I can piece anything, maybe not the first time but eventually, fabric on the other hand, a struggle most every time.

Lesly, Happy Quilt Day to you! Your NY beauty is gorgeous! Your mystery quilt looks very happy and spring like. Beautiful purple batiks!

My biggest challenge so far this year is the Feeling Groovy quilt I am working on now. I made the "pattern" myself and trying to figure out the math has been challenging, but fun too.

Love the block and it has given me an idea of what I want to do for a quilting bee I am in. Thank you!
